Ina Garten has been a popular American writer of cook books for many years. Ina is also the Emmy-winning host of Food Networks longest running show Barefoot Contessa that began in 2002. Ina began working in the White House as a writer of nuclear energy policy documents and also the budget. Although she initially found it intellectually stimulating she eventually stopped her interest. She then bought the Barefoot Contessa a small speciality food retailer. After nearly 18 years of making the store a huge success, she sold it, and then began writing her first book. Numerous different cookbooks and magazines were later published. Her Food Network TV show also made its debut, and was a huge hit. Ina sells a variety of products, from ingredients for cooking, to kitchenware and storage. Ina is not a student at any cookery school or worked in a restaurant and she is completely self-taught. Ina is known for her relaxed style of creating and entertaining. Her most popular recipes include the lemon chicken that she grills in a skillet and Beatty's Chocolate Cake Mac & Cheese Beef Bouguignon and balsamic-roasted Brussels Sprouts & Lemon Bars.
